  • Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  • Mix the ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hashbrowns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, 1 ½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese, melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper. If desired, add the green onions or crumbled bacon for extra flavor.
  • Transfer to the baking dish: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  • Top with cheese: Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
